KONSEP KELUARGA DAN PEREMPUAN DALAM PERSPEKTIF JAMAAH TABLIGH
Analisa Normatif-Sosiologis
Abstract
This article discusses an ideal family concept as well as women role in Jamaah Tabligh families. Background of the study is based on religious character and missionary movement of Jamaah Tabligh tends to be traditional as Prophet Muhammad and his companions did. As result, Jamaah Tabligh is considered as Islamic traditionalist-revivalist group. The main Jamaah Tabligh's activities are concerned on Islamic missionary (dakwah) that tends to imitiate the prophet Muhammad missionary method. There is an assumption that members of Jamaah Tabligh tend to neglect their families due to their activities in dakwah, such as khuruj and jaulah. While, regarding a relationship with women (wife), Jamaah Tabligh is assumed to ignore women and places women in the subordinate domain (domestic role).
The article explained deeply the two Jamaah Tabligh conceptions above. This study is not only based on literature investigation but also based on interview data with the local leader of Jamaah Tabligh in Central Java. Jamaah Tabligh sermon on youtube is also analyzed to complete this study.
