LARANGAN PERKAWINAN NGALOR-NGULON DALAM ADAT JAWA DI DESA LESES KABUPATEN KLATEN PERSPEKTIF SADD AD-DZARI’AH
Abstract
Part of the diversity of traditions in Indonesia, as a country with a diverse Muslim community, is marriage. In some areas of Indonesia, marriage has a unique and challenging face. What happened in Leses Village, Klaten Regency, Central Java concerning what is called “ngalor-ngulon marriage” is one of them. This term refers to the prohibition of marriage because the position of the house between the prospective husband and the future wife is considered contradictory. In the minds of the Javanese, direction is something sacred, so the tradition of such prohibition is likely to occur. This model of marriage is prohibited because the bride's house is located in the Northwest (ngalor-ngulon) of the groom. The geographic location of one of the brides has an impact on customary law and has been passed down from generation to generation in Leses Village. This research tries to look at the practice of prohibition from the perspective of sadd al-dzari'ah. Questions that will arise range from how does the face of the practice of "ngalor-ngulon marriage" look like and what will be happened if one treats it from Islamic Family Law Perspective, especially the sadd aldzariah theory.
