Abstract
Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan was born in Yogyakarta, August 1, 1868 AD/1285H Died February 23, 1923M/1340H, was eaten in Karangkajen, Yogyakarta. The leader of the Indonesian Islamic reformist movement, is a fringe Islamic figure in Javanese society. He first echoed the slogan "Back to the Qur'an and AsSunnah". Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan wanted to free Indonesian Muslims from the grip of Dutch colonial rule. So that Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan thought about the fundamental renewal of progress and reforming the field of education in the Indonesian community in general, and especially the Muhammadiyah community. It is the philosophical foundation that defines educational systems and practices.
